Buy Rolex watches: pre-owned and unworn, with box and papers

Rolex is the brand against which the entire luxury watch market is measured. Founded in London in 1905 and based in Geneva since 1919, the company has introduced a series of innovations that we now take for granted: the waterproof Oyster case of 1926, the automatic Perpetual movement of 1931, the date display of the Datejust in 1945. Those looking for a Rolex watch are therefore rarely just looking for a timepiece. Our current inventory includes over 150 pieces from more than four decades, ranging from the production year 1978 to models from 2026.

Rolex watches for men and women: an overview of the assortment

The largest group is formed by the Datejust models with nearly eighty pieces, followed by the Submariner, Daytona, and GMT-Master II. These are joined by the Sea-Dweller, Yacht-Master, Oyster Perpetual, Cellini, Sky-Dweller, Day-Date, and a Milgauss. Those searching specifically will find the Datejust bundled in the dedicated Datejust selection, and divers' watches accordingly in the Submariner models. The distribution in the inventory is uneven: for a single Milgauss, there are around eighty Datejust models. Those searching with an open mind should therefore use the filters above and not be guided solely by the first page.

In terms of case sizes, the focus is on 36 and 41 millimeters. You will mainly find a Rolex ladies' watch in the smaller Datejust versions and in the Lady variants; those specifically looking for smaller cases will find what they are looking for across all brands in the watches for womensection. A Rolex men's watch in this inventory typically falls in the range between 40 and 44 millimeters. The separation into ladies' and men's is, in any case, more a matter of diameter than category.

Pre-owned Rolex and second-hand models

Whether second-hand, pre-owned, or simply used: it all means the same thing, and the inventory is mixed in this regard. Some of the watches are marked as worn in the condition field, others as unworn, including several models from 2026. A pre-owned Rolex is therefore not automatically an older watch: there are pieces from 1978 that have been in use for decades, and references from the current year that have never sat on a wrist. Condition by itself therefore says little about age, and age little about condition. Both pieces of information should be read together.

For a pre-owned purchase, four details matter, and all four are found in the specifications of every product page: production year, reference, condition, and scope of delivery. The scope of delivery is usually stated as box and papers. Added to this are the dial, bracelet, case material, and size, allowing two offers to be compared side-by-side rather than relying on product photos. When buying a second-hand Rolex, you are ultimately buying these exact four lines and not the image above them.

Rolex prices: what makes the difference between two references

The inventory ranges from compact classics to extremely rare versions. At one end are an Oyster Perpetual 26 from 2016 and the older Datejust models in 36 millimeters from the seventies and eighties, at the other a Lady-Datejust Pearlmaster and two Daytona models in platinum with green dials. Between these poles, three factors mainly determine the value: reference, condition, and dial configuration. A dial with diamond indices, a two-tone version in steel and gold, or a less commonly requested color noticeably shift the price within the same reference. The bracelet also plays a role, as Jubilé and Oyster variants have different levels of demand.

Anyone who wants to know exactly what a Rolex costs must visit the individual product page, because two watches of the same reference can differ significantly in price. All amounts are gross prices including VAT; shipping costs are shown during the checkout process. Using Club benefits saves you even more. Rolex Daytona, GMT-Master II, and Oyster Perpetual

The Daytona is represented with about sixteen pieces, including the Cosmograph with a black dial in reference 116500LN. Regarding the GMT-Master II, often also written as GMT-Master 2, there are more than a dozen watches in stock, including the two-tone bezel variants known by the nicknames Batman and Batgirl. The Sea-Dweller is represented by, among others, a Deepsea from 2008, reference 116660.

The Oyster Perpetual is much quieter, coming without a date and available in five versions. The Yacht-Master sits in between with six pieces: sporty, without appearing as massive as a Deepsea. In addition, there are the Sky-Dweller, Day-Date, a Milgauss, and several Cellini models, which stand out from the rest of the assortment as classic dress watches. For a first entry into the brand, the smaller Datejust and Oyster Perpetual models are usually the more understated choice.

Buying a Rolex: what you should look for in a pre-owned watch

First, check the reference number. It appears in the title and the specifications field of every offer and tells you more than the model name, because case size, bezel, and movement can differ within a family. A Datejust 16014 from 1980 has little in common with a Datejust 126334 from 2026 other than the name. A second look is also worthwhile within a single reference, as dial color, indices, and bracelet type vary.

Secondly, look at the production year and condition, and thirdly, at the scope of delivery. Every watch carries the "verified authenticity" seal and is delivered with a 12-month warranty; payment can also be made via cryptocurrency. Whether a model is immediately available or has a delivery time is stated directly on the product page. Which Rolex fits which wrist?

The 36-millimeter Datejust is the classic choice for small to medium wrists and works regardless of gender. From 40 millimeters upwards, it becomes sportier: Submariner, GMT-Master II, and Daytona are built thicker and thus have a more present feel. Those wavering between two sizes should pay attention to the lug width and the case height, not just the diameter. And finally, it matters how a watch is worn in everyday life: those who want to wear it under a shirt cuff are better served by a flatter Datejust than a Sea-Dweller.

The bracelet also changes the character of a watch significantly. A Jubilé bracelet feels softer and more supple than an Oyster bracelet, which appears edgier and sportier. Both variants are present in the inventory. A later bracelet change is straightforward; the matching models can be found under watch straps.
