Calypso is part of Marc Gebauer’s Perpetual Collection and is conceived as a storm turned into fragrance. One of those moments on the open sea where warmth and wildness collide and leave a lasting impression. Warm, spicy, and yet unfathomably deep, this scent unfolds like a rock in the middle of a turbulent sea – a place you never want to leave.
The opening is spicy and electric. Cardamom, saffron, and cinnamon bring a glowing, almost crackling tension, like the first flash of lightning over dark water, while bergamot and yellow mandarin tear a bright rift of light into the sky.
In the heart, the composition becomes darker and more sensual. Blond tobacco blends with the tart coolness of artemisia and the dark sweetness of plum and dried prune, held together by a proud rose. A smoky, almost velvety warmth that holds on and creates closeness.
In the base, Calypso gains depth and character. Atlas cedar and white cedarwood build a noble, dry wooden frame, while ambergris provides a subtle, salty sea warmth. Vetiver and patchouli add an earthy, dark depth that grounds the fragrance and gives it an almost magnetic quality. Woody, ambery, and spicy elements merge here into a harmonious whole that remains present for a long time without being loud.
